We resume our article on the basics of Blackjack. In the last article we covered the approach of blackjack, taking another card, holding with the current hand and how to double down. In part two we’ll talk about splitting, surrendering and insurance.

Split: if a player is assigned two cards of the same amount (two eights as an example) the player may split them to generate 2 separate hands. If you decide to separate your hand you will need to make a new wager equivalent to the original bet.

Surrender: Some casinos will allow individuals to surrender the cards they have been handed along with fifty percent of the initial wager they made prior to the dealer looking at his hand. Keep in mind it is important to inquire with the dealer for clarification on the table rules or check out the game rules section on the internet betting house you are playing on.

Insurance: When the dealers exposed card is an Ace players have the option to take out insurance. You’ll place half of the initial bet prior to the croupier looking at his cards; if the croupier has black jack you will come away with a win on the insurance wager but still lose the original sum. Regrettably if the croupier doesn’t have twenty-one the competitor loses the insurance. It’s a chance but one that is well worth it, if used as part of a smart tactic.

As soon as a player has stayed or gone bust by going over 21 the dealer will show their cards and will go on to deal himself cards until one of the following things has happened: if he has reached 17, a dealer will not usually draw another card because of the likelihood of going bust, if they have drawn 21 or if they have busted.
